When Sam is looking for cars she brings an Optima car battery and a fuel canister with her. When she finds a car and is able to start it supposedly using the battery she brought along with her (as we see a shot of her installing a battery) we see her pull off in the vehicle but in the background on the ground is the Optima car battery that she was originally carrying with her.
