Just before the king gives his first wartime speech, in the first week of September 1939, the trees in the shot are leafless, and he and other characters are dressed in coats suitable for a British winter. Yet just after the king gives that same speech, and waves to the crowd with his family from a palace balcony, the trees in the background are green and full, as they would be in early September in London.
