When the Chateau Marmont valet first welcomes Harriet and Peter, Sunset Blvd. supposedly appears mere yards away in the background, all on a flat plane with traffic zooming left and right in a straight line. Not only does Marmont Lane lead up both a distinct incline and turn to the hotel entrance and valet a fair distance off Sunset, but it actually branches off the corner of a 45-degree angle where the boulevard directly turns southwest toward the border of West Hollywood.
