When Bilbo returns to the Shire at the end of the film and shows his contract to prove his identity, Thorin's name is read as "Thorin Oakenshield" from the contract. In Lo Hobbit - Un viaggio inaspettato it is shown that Thorin signed his name as "Thorin Son of Thrain" on the contract. The hobbit reading the contact would not know the name Thorin Oakenshield, since he is clearly reading it off the end where the signatures are.
