The Mustang's engine sound suggests that it has a manual transmission, and there is a brief shot of a character's feet on the pedals where a clutch pedal can be seen. The "clunk" of a manual shifter is also heard with every gear change. However, in another shot, an automatic shifter is clearly visible, and in numerous scenes, the car is heard changing gears while the driver visibly has both hands on the steering wheel. It is unclear which type of transmission the car is supposed to have.
