Kevin clearly did not think it through on how he was going to get away with the lie his dad was also at the hotel. The hotel staff would find out at the end of his stay that he had lied to them and committed credit card fraud. Plus, Mrs. Stone told Kevin his dad would need to sign a few things, so even if Kevin got away with it the police would be informed.
