At the end of the movie, when Dawson says "Ten Hut" and salutes, he does it without his cover (hat). While saluting indoors and uncovered is not correct for a Marine, he would likely have done it anyway to demonstrate respect for LT(jg) Kaffee after having disrespected him earlier. However, Marines NEVER use the phrase "ten hut" in place of the word "Attention". When acknowledging the presence of an officer, a Marine would ALWAYS as a matter of training, custom, and habit say "Attention on deck."
