The hero uses his 'superspeed' to save Mary from being hit by a truck but the impact of a 100 kg 'indestructible' man moving too fast for the eye to see would be substantially greater than that of being hit by the truck from which she was ostensibly saved, and, even if the impact didn't kill her, the G-forces involved in instantly accelerating her from walking speed to superspeed certainly would (inertia is often the first victim of cartoon physics).
