In the opening scene, Bond leaves the ski lodge and goes downhill wearing an ordinary backpack. A parachute pack has straps around the sides and legs. As rigged, he'd fall out of the pack as the chute opened, or have to clutch it all the way down. The shot of Roger Moore after it opens shows him wearing a correct parachute harness.
