When Ray and Emma and trying to get to the kids a container ship rises out of the water and shows the propellers on the ship. The direction in which the propellers are rotating and the pitch of the propeller blades, would result in reverse thrust i.e. the ship backing up. The ship is pointing in the direction of the Pacific Ocean and is going out to sea and trying to outrun the tsunami.
