Already mentioned : the veteran who extends his hand to shake the General's in the scene towards the end of the movie. Something similar takes place when the General is leaving the Unit at the start of the movie after Bing had sung White Christmas. The General moves between two lines of soldiers shaking hands and again one soldier's hand is extended and ignored , so he quickly withdraws it.
