It is established early in the film that one has to die in battle to go to Valhalla and the two characters in Valhalla are Jane Foster and Heimdall, even though neither should be there. Jane die after the battle was finished and from cancer and Heimdall died after Thanos' attack on Thor's ship and the massacre of the Asgardians.
