Dumbledore puts Harry in great danger by allowing him to take such a big part in the climax, when multiple people (including himself) could have stopped Quirrell. This is a really bad decision, as it's revealed in later movies that he will need Harry alive later. Professor McGonagall says that Dumbledore was called away by the Ministry of Magic and so wasn't around to intervene, plus it wasn't a question of 'allowing' Harry to do it, as the latter decided to do it anyway.
