Just before the end of the movie, Vincent records her final words about the artifact, the current state of the crew and the creatures on board. She then downloads it onto a distress beacon and shoots it into space, just before the Kellion arrives. However, the Kellion doesn't actually arrive until about two days after this point, it is simply filmed this way to connect the end of the movie with the beginning of the game.
