In the flashback to the airport with Cal and Skiles, the C130 is painted in a 21st century scheme of "Compass Gray" With stencil style low-visibility insignia. Nothing remotely like this scheme existed in US Air Force (or other US branches) service in1972. Several were used depending on which command owned the aircraft but the most-similar gray with white top used different colors, larger full-color insignia and numerous highly visible tail markings not present. The tail code indicates this aircraft is from the 327th Tactical Airlift Squadron (as it was called between 1967 and 1992), but even in the current paint scheme, the tail markings for aircraft from that unit are very differently arranged.
