The dominant member of the alien species is referred to as "the Omega", with its subordinates being called "alphas." This is the reverse of the way these terms are actually used. In a social group of organisms, the dominant member of the hierarchy is called the alpha (alpha being the first letter of the Greek alphabet), while the lowest-ranked individual is called the omega (the last letter of the Greek alphabet).
