One of the reasons ski resorts are closed more than they are open is for maintenance. Had this been a real scenario, the longest the trio would be stuck on the lift would be until the next morning when maintenance crews came in to perform preventative maintenance on the ski lift, and groom the mountain for the upcoming weekend's visitors.
