Chuck's gang is formed with three guys (not counting the boy who works on the drugstore, the 5th member) and that quartet is responsible for attacking Walt Sherill two times. Later on, when the group gather for the last time, preparing stories to tell the cops, only two guys are seen with Chuck. The movie never explains what happened to him and also what happened with the two guys Chuck left on the road.
