Rasputin did seemingly perform a medical miracle on Alexei, but from afar. He was in Siberia and not there when the boy's health rallied. Basically, the Tsarina asked her friend Vyrubova to telegram this newly-famous faith healer, and Rasputin replied: "God has seen your tears and heard your prayers. Do not grieve. The Little One will not die. Do not allow the doctors to bother him too much." The doctors in attendance even admitted that they could not understand why the boy's health suddenly improved, but it was likely the combination of lowering the emotional stress (the Tsarina calmed down) and dismissing the doctors who had been giving the boy aspirin (now known to be a blood thinner).
