Davis and two other Heisman finalists are shown in NY waiting in suspense for who will be chosen as the winner. That's how the award is given now, but that tradition only started in the early 1980's. Prior to that a winning player was sent a telegram or given a phone call informing him he'd won, complete with invitation to the awards banquet.
