When Joanna presses her car's starter button the starter motor turns but the engine doesn't fire. Henry tells her she has forgotten to switch on the ignition. When she makes a second attempt, Henry shouts at her that the car is in gear. If it had been in gear, the car would have lurched the first time the starter was pressed, irrespective of the ignition being off.
