When the two boats of pirates come ashore to attack those on the island, they have 16 men. In the battle, the islanders shoot and kill 10 men. When Captain Bob retreats his pirates to their ship in the one boat, there are seven of them. And the next scene shows the three pirates still hiding under the islanders' raft. So, four more pirates came from somewhere other than the two boats from their ship.
