Maverick again performs a fly-by with Iceman whose F-14 is shot up. Yet both of them appear to land without incident. In reality, Iceman's F-14 would have not properly landed or even crash. This is due to sustained major damage to the hydraulic system that powers the flight controls. See 1:39:47.
