During all the exterior scenes from Dawn of the Man the clouds don't move at all, neither slowly or in a more intense speed. Still photographs from African nature locations and matte paintings were used in those sequences with the apes which reveals the background is being a composition rather than filmed. Clouds always provide some form of movement.
