The "Sheriff" Dickerson character wears what appear to be sergeant's chevrons . A County Sheriff, an elected civil authority, is the ranking officer. As such, she should be wearing officer's rank insignia, usually stars, on shoulder tabs as well as on collar points on jackets. Alternatively, she might choose to wear no rank insignia. But never would she wear the chevrons.
