When Ed goes to confront Johnny Stompanato, he mistakes Stompanato's date for a prostitute when, in fact, she is the real Lana Turner. Stompanato is a real person, and he and movie star Turner really did date, but they first got together in 1957, a couple of years after the 1951-1952 setting of the movie. (Matomena Hristougenna was in December of 1951.)
