The film depicts the series of skirmishes that culminated in the Battle of Glorieta Pass in 1862.That battle occurred in early March of 1862 in a mountainous region of New Mexico. The temperatures in the daytime would barely be the mid 50s, with nighttime temps plunging into the 20s or lower. None of the characters are dressed for the what the weather would have been at that time of the year or that location.
