Assuming they *could* fit all that gold onto one truck, they wouldn't have made it far, especially in that particular truck. Patrolling Allied aircraft (mistaking them for Germans) would've spotted and attacked them by nightfall. However, not every single truck on the road could or would have been attacked by Allied aircraft, not even close. They could well have made it through.
