Although now shown on TV under its original Tomahawk title, the film was released in the UK as the "Battle of Powder River". This is factually incorrect as the events portrayed took place at Fort Kearny in Wyoming in 1866, as part of Red Cloud's War, not the Great Sioux Uprising in Montana, in 1876. Confusion arises because the locations of both conflicts lie on the Bozeman Trail within the Powder River Basin/Country. Events between 1866 and 1868 are sometimes referred to as the Powder River War.
