Near the start of the film, Director Al Harrison acts as if he's never heard of IBM, and they are something new. In fact, IBM CPC's (Card Programmed Calculators) -actually rudimentary computers - had been in use at the Langley Research Center since 1952, 9 years before the film was set. Other IBM equipment would have been there as well.
