At the adult's Halloween party at town hall when the sisters are singing "I Put a Spell on You" the kids think the spell will affect everyone there but it is only targeted at the adults that were already dancing. This is because the kids went to the adults for help. Winifred wouldn't put the curse on the kids because she wanted to catch them and get her book back. She wouldn't be able to get it if the kids were dancing under the spell.
