In the scene where Annie and Vaughn are trying to mark where they are with a bag of Tom's blood, they use a plastic bag which would only hold a small amount of blood. Yet when they get it through the ice and blow it up, the amount of blood that explodes is much more than could have been in that tiny bag they pushed through.
