One cannot die so quickly of seizures even if poorly ventilated: The character had her head to the side, the (Hollywood theatrical) foam dripping down her cheek so she could continue breathing (even if not properly) and a status epilepticus (prolonged seizures or a series of seizures without recovering in between) can lead to death after several dozens of minutes because of abnormal brain activity. But given the rapid progression of time, a long, deadly series of seizures would be perceived on the beach as lasting only a few seconds, which is how it's presented in the film. By comparison, wounds that would take days or weeks to heal in the real world do so almost instantly in the film.
