Several British commanding officers seen between Blake's death and Schofield getting a lift in a truck are seen wearing peak caps. While the British army did wear them during the war, tinned helmets actually replaced them by 1916 to offer better protection. So the commanding officers should had been wearing the tinned helmets instead.
