When Kate goes to pick up Leonardo at the hospital, she says "here is our marriage license", but hands him a marriage certificate. A marriage license is not a certificate of a marriage. A marriage license is what you get from city hall that allows you to get married, a marriage certificate is what the city/county gives you once you've gotten married and mail in the filled out marriage license.
