The movie never reveals the fate of Robbins, the other student (along with Martineau) caught by the headmaster in an "indecent act". All the main characters talk about Martineau due to the tragic circumstance of his death but Robbins is never mentioned by anyone afterwards. (It would be typical of Britain in the period for only the older Martineau to have been held responsible, and not Robbins.)
