When Paul Smecker is introduced in the alley, he asks for a Detective Duffy to bring him a "café latte, twist of lemon, sweet n' low." The problem with this order is that a latte is made with steamed milk. The acid in lemons causes the proteins in milk to gather together in clumps, curdling the milk and would therefore not be ordered in a latte.
