Kleinfeld (Dave) offers Carlito a total of $60,000 to go along with him on the boat trip to rescue Tony T. Although Carlito did not expect Dave to kill Tony, and his son, they still made it back safely. So why didn't Carlito simply take the $60,000 right then and what money he had from the club, which would have been more than the $75,000 he was obsessed with getting in order to go to the Bahamas. That would have saved Carlito days of trouble and getting himself killed and he could have avoided Kleinfeld altogether after that, along with meeting the Italians at the club, who were also trying to kill him besides Benny from the Bronx, who had sold Carlito out by Pachanga. Carlito had a huge opportunity to escape with just Kleinfeld's $60,000 and didn't even need to go back to the club. Carlito and Gail could have gone to the train station the next day, and could have slipped away without anyone knowing where they were, except for Kleinfeld, but he would have been killed anyway, whether or not Carlito had gone to visit him.
