When the Martians infiltrate Tom Jones' Las Vegas concert, the skeletons of his three back-up singers are seen, but the Martians' ray guns are never heard firing (nor did any of the audience or band members apparently see the singers being disintegrated, the flashing of the ray guns, or anything else out of the ordinary) and the music was not loud enough to drown out the sound of the rays.
