Cross takes his tracking device and forces a handy nearby wolf to swallow it. Aside from the difficulty involved in restraining a wild wolf and getting it to swallow an object without getting your fingers bitten off, the wolf is subsequently blown up only a few feet from where Cross is standing -- he could have just as easily thrown the tracking device away from himself and accomplished the same result.There was a stick holding the wolf's teeth from biting Crosses fingers off and the wolf and Cross were running full-tilt in opposite directions. When the wolf blew up it was at a considerable distance, not "a few feet" away.
