The "USAF helicopters" in the movie are fictional. Per the Johnson-McConnell Agreement of 1966, the United States Army and Air Force exchanged "wings" which meant the U.S. Army relinquished its fixed-wing aircraft to the USAF and the USAF relinquished its rotary wing aircraft to the Army (to reduce operational redundancy). Lt. Col. Devoe and his fellow Army infantrymen would have been transported in UH-60 Black Hawk or MH-6 "Little Bird" helicopters.
