In an early scene when Wendy and Paul are talking, one of them refers to their "parental units." This phrase became popular as the result of its use in the recurring "Coneheads" sketches on Saturday Night Live. The movie is set in 1973, however, whereas Saturday Night Live did not premiere until 1975, and the Coneheads sketches did not first air until 1977.
