Alice teme di essere pazza. Da quando è piccola continua a fare lo stesso sogno, non sta mai attenta quando le parlano, è diversa dal resto della società che frequenta e non si integra nelle regole. Affinchè non rimanga zitella come la zia, che senza marito pazza lo è diventata sul serio, i parenti le combinano il matrimonio con un ottimo partito: un giovanotto integrato di nobile lignaggio e con qualche problema digestivo. Al ricevimento nel quale le verrà fatta la proposta però le visioni di Alice si fanno insistenti, il ticchettio di un orologio sembra ossessionarla e sul più bello vede comparire un coniglio in doppiopetto che le indica che è oramai tardi. Alice lo segue nella sua tana e finisce in quel mondo che aveva sognato fin da piccola, dove scopre che esiste una profezia riguardo una sua omonima la quale, con l'aiuto del Cappellaio Matto, del Coniglio Marzolino libererà il regno.
