Brad e Kate sono una coppia californiana non sposata che riesce a conservare salda l'unione anche grazie al fatto che ognuno dei due non conosce i genitori dell'altro. Nemmeno a Natale sono mai dovuti andare a far loro visita perché sono sempre riusciti a partire per un viaggio. Questa volta però le cose si mettono male, perché il loro volo per le Isole Fiji viene annullato e una giornalista televisiva intervistandoli fa sì che i genitori apprendano della loro presenza forzata in città. Diventa quindi obbligatorio andarli a trovare...
