Dopo essere stato umiliato per l’ennesima volta da un collega prepotente, oltretutto di fronte alla figlia, Joe Scheffer - sottovalutato specialista di video impiegato presso una società farmaceutica - decide che è arrivato il momento di ribellarsi. Gli viene in aiuto l’ex attore Chuck Scarett, che gli impartisce lezioni di karate rimettendolo in forma e facendogli guadagnare la stima dei colleghi. La figlia e l'ex moglie, però, non sono poi così impressionate...
