Cliff e Cydney si sono appena sposati e decidono di andare in viaggio di nozze alle Hawaii scegliendo uno dei percorsi più impervi ma anche naturalisticamente più interessanti. Dopo aver noleggiato un'auto si vedono chieder un passaggio da una coppia formata da una ragazza molto loquace e da un 'lui' dai modi spicci e rudi. Cliff e Cydney finiscono col proseguire da soli. Di lì a poco vengono a sapere che nel luogo in cui avevano fatto sosta è avvenuto un omicidio compiuto da una coppia. Di lì a poco avranno modo di incontrare un escursionista come loro, Nick, il quale gli fa conoscere la sua compagna, Gina. I quattro proseguono l'escursione insieme ma si rifà viva la coppia dell'autostop mancato e i sospetti su quali possano essere gli assassini cominciano a serpeggiare.
