Paula, una giovane cantante, dopo aver lasciato Londra in seguito al misterioso omicidio della zia con cui viveva, incontra in Italia il musicista Gregory. Una volta sposati andranno ad abitare proprio nella casa di Londra in cui è avvenuto l'omicidio. Lì Paula inizierà a sentire rumori notturni dalla soffitta, la luce delle lampade a gas che si abbassa senza motivo e altre cose che la condurranno verso l'angoscia...
