1492: Cristoforo Colombo riesce a fare approvare alla Regina Isabella di Castiglia il suo progetto, che consiste nel raggiungere le Indie viaggiando verso occidente. Così, il 3 agosto, le tre caravelle Niña, Pinta e Santa Maria salpano da Palos alla volta delle Indie. Tempo dopo, il 12 ottobre, Colombo sbarca sull'Isola di Guarahani, oggi San Salvador. La conquista dell'America viene quindi descritta in modo sanguinolento. Riparte così per la Spagna, con lo scopo di progettare un'ulteriore spedizione, ma l'ostilità dei nobili locali condurrà alla sua reclusione in carcere. Dopo qualche tempo, grazie ai suoi figli riesce ad avere un appuntamento con la Regina, lei consente a Colombo di ripartire ma lo avverte di stare lontano dall'isola di San Salvador e in particolare Santo Domingo.Dopo aver scoperto l'america e accorgendosi che non era l'india si diedero subito da fare per scoprire le richezze di quel continente
