Nancy (Alison Hayes) è una benestante donna californiana che affoga i suoi problemi - principalmente causati dal marito che la tradisce - nell'alcol. Una notte, guidando la sua macchina nel deserto alle spalle della città, si imbatte in una strana sfera luminosa dalla quale esce una creatura aliena. Terrorizzata fa ritorno in città ma nessuno crede al suo racconto, anche perché tutti la conoscono come una bevitrice. Convince però il marito a fare ritorno con lei sul luogo dell'avvistamento, dove i due si imbattono nuovamente nell'alieno. Il marito estrae la pistola e spara, ma il colpo è inutile e l'uomo si dà alla fuga, lasciando Nancy sola. Nancy viene poi ritrovata priva di sensi sul bordo della piscina di casa. Un medico la prende in cura ma dopo poco, per effetto di qualcosa che le ha fatto l'alieno, Nancy cresce a dismisura, trasformandosi in una gigantessa alta 50 piedi (15 metri) assetata di vendetta verso il marito e la donna con cui lui la tradisce.
