Una ragazza appena arrivata a New York dalla provincia in cerca della sorella da tempo emigrata nella Grande Mela fa una terribile scoperta. La donna è caduta in balìa di una setta di adoratori del diavolo che la vuole spingere al suicidio. Liberarla da quel pesante giogo non è cosa facile anche perché i componenti della setta non consentono che nessuno lasci la loro congrega. La lotta intrapresa dalla ragazza per tentare di uscire sarà immane, ma può contare sull'aiuto della tenace sorella.
